Apple Airport Time Capsule Overheating Temporary Quick Fix.
This is a temporary quick fix for the Apple Time Capsule overheating problem. I knew from day on this ran too hot and I needed to put a fan on it but only got around to it years later when it started acting up.
Shockingly poor design by apple especially considering the premium price. Little to no consideration was given to heat dissipation in the design. Electronics in general and especially electrolytic capacitors are susceptible to premature failure due to excessive heat.

We raised the Time Capsule putting four dice at the corners to allow heat dissipation and airflow on the bottom of the unit. We tried two different 12vdc computer fans but both were too loud and pushed more air than needed. One would not run on 5vdc while the other would. We are now driving one of the 12 volt fans at 5 volts with no audible noise and an unbelievable difference in temperature. Before the Time Capsule was hot to the touch, now it never even gets warm.

We may ultimately have to change out the capacitors on the power supply if not change the entire supply due to the heat damage already occurred.
